The Printing Press Assistant’s job consists of assisting the Printing Press Operator with setting up and maintaining production of printing equipment. Included in their duties is ensuring that they read the order properly, ensuring all raw materials are available, and following all quality check requirements and ISO procedures.
Mental Ability – The Press Assistant must be able to read orders and setup the machine properly. They must be able to communicate orally with crewmembers and monitor ink viscosity and keep rolls loaded on the equipment. They must be able to read a tape measure accurately and operate a calculator for basic mathematical computations. Be able to recognize/match color to meet order requirements.
Physical Ability – The Press Assistant must be able to climb up steps/or ladder in order to set-up or troubleshoot the equipment. They must be able to lift up to 40-70 pounds to assist co-workers in lifting shaft cylinders and/or ink pails and be able to exert 30 lbs. force to roll print cylinder carts, doctor blades, lift pans or raw materials into place.
Safety – It is plant policy to work in a safe manner. All Press Assistants must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-tag-try procedures, observe hazards such as nip points, properly handle and label hazardous waste and follow plant and department safety rules.

Assure all unused materials are properly labeled and returned to stock and properly stored.
