    The Shift Supervisor is a key position of the Tomah plant. This challenging position supervises up to 60 hourly employees directly. Along with other Shift Supervisors, this person manages the Printing, Extrusion and Finishing departments within the plant. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing employees to achieve safety performance, assure highest quality products, ensure production efficiencies by reducing machine down time, and decreasing waste. The Supervisor must also lead continuous improvement efforts.


    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Treating others with a high level of kindness, dignity, and respect
    • Balancing safety, quality and productivity to achieve goals in all areas
    • Resolving employee performance issues through problem resolution
    • Providing coaching and counseling to production operators and associated production personnel
    • Driving continuous improvement activities
    • Implement, maintain, and continually improve standard operating procedures and departmental changes;
    • Coordinate all workflow and resources to complete work and to ensure deadlines are met and standards of quality and accuracy are respected;
    • Maintain a high level of productivity and ensure resource plans are executed to achieve lowest possible cost;
    • Manage employee attendance records, payroll and disciplinary records to ensure proper coverage and accurate information;


     Specific Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Being an active member of the Emergency Response Team
    • Providing daily work assignments to team members as needed
    • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards
    • Managing shift performance and daily production reports for accuracy
    • Assisting production in completing quality jackets, conducting root cause analyses and assisting with implementation of corrective and preventive actions
    • Overseeing production training and ensuring completion of proper documentation
    • Manage hourly timekeeping daily through Company provided software


    Key Requirements:

    • Bachelors or Associates degree in Management or Supervision preferred
    • 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred
    • Minimum two years of supervisory experience - experience in the Flexible Packaging Industry (printing, extrusion, and/or slitting technology) preferred
    • Ability to work our Continuous Operation Schedule (COS) of rotating 12 hour shifts (6a-6p and 6p-6a) and to cover vacancies as required
    • Must be an organized professional with a positive attitude with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven business environment;
    • Business acumen and forward-thinking, with the ability to recognize and implement best practices within the department;
    • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to perform under pressure and demonstrate leadership skills;
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle a wide variety or responsibilities in a timely manner
    • Demonstrated skills in fostering teamwork and managing the performance of others
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel; knowledge of the AS400/Data 3 system preferred
