    Position Summary

    The operations manager is the key link between sales and the facility and the facility and the customers. He/She is responsible for maintaining the plant production schedule and ensuring the plant is loaded correctly each week. This role is the primary contact point for sales people and customers when there is an issue that needs to be addressed. The key to success is balancing the customer requirements with the efficient scheduling of the production process.

    Responsibilities

    Basic Responsibilities

           Manage raw and WIP inventory levels and ensure material is available when required for production.

           Manage finished goods inventory levels and ensure warehouse has finished goods to satisfy releases.

           Ensure a production schedule is developed daily on at least a rolling three days basis with 48 hours locked.

           Maintain a library of customer agreements and standards.

           Maintains an accurate backlog (correct shipment weeks) of orders and liaises sales to ensure there is an adequate understanding of future demand.

           Ensures that customer requirements for ship dates are met.

           Manages scheduling of the plant so that the three month rolling sales forecast is met.

     

     

     

    Specific Duties

            Conduct weekly machine loading (crewing) meeting ensuring production requirements are met efficiently.

            Work with quality manager and department managers to put in place procedures and processes that address customer quality issues.

            Ensure the status of each SKU is maintained (inventory level, anticipated weekly demand) and that the production schedule is aligned with the status of each SKU.

            Manage customer service representatives so that customer requirements are efficiently met.

            Attend rolling three months sales forecasting meeting monthly.

     

     

    Authorities

           Load plant at the proper productivity level (determines the machines that will be crewed in a week).

           Determines if quality level is adequate for shipment when there is doubt.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Knowledge

           Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

           Four year degree OR equivalent company job specific work experience

           Experience planning production process

           Experience managing customer service
