Coveris Spartanburg has an immediate opening for a Plant Engineer & Maintenance Manager.  The Plant Engineer & Maintenance Manager facilitates a culture of safety & health. This position also manages daily plant engineering and maintenance activities to support printing and converting production value streams, manages daily plant engineering activities to support facility needs, plans and assigns work, manages contractors and vendors, enforces policy and procedures, drives root cause analysis activities, recommends improvements in production methods, and participates in continuous improvement team activities.


  • Ensures a safe & healthy work environment through continuous risk reduction
  • Balances safety, quality, and productivity to achieve positive results in all areas
  • Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing activities including the design, construction, modification, performance and maintenance of equipment and machinery
  • Manage capital projects and activities
  • Manage contractors and vendors
  • Ensures effective employee relations
  • Resolves employee issues through problem resolution
  • Provides coaching and counseling to maintenance team members
  • Provides support to operations to increase machine uptime and productivity throughout the plant
  • Drives continuous improvement activities
  • Supports and maintains all activities related to Food Safety Management system
  • Provides daily work assignments to maintenance team members
  • Conducts performance reviews on all maintenance team members
  • Enforces all plant policies and procedures
  • Enforces all plant and department safety rules
  • Manages department performance and report result as directed by facility manager
  • Manages daily goal setting to achieve maximum machine uptime and productivity
  • Audits safety, quality and environmental housekeeping procedures
  • Monitors department performance and ensures barriers are identified and actions assigned
  • Manages training and continuous education to ensure proper skill level throughout the maintenance department
  • Ensures departmental Master Cleaning schedules, checklist, and audits related to the Food Safety Management system are completed as required


  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience


  • 4-year Engineering / technical degree (mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering) OR journey man skilled trade certification required
